02 / Pricing
Prices on the page
You can see what a website costs without booking a call. These are starting prices, and you get a fixed written quote before any work begins.
Starter
£100
From / 1 to 2 weeks
Up to five pages for a trade, consultant or café that needs to be online and easy to find.
Business
£400

Shops and bespoke

A ten-product shop and a two-hundred-product shop are different jobs, so these are priced from your brief.

Five stages, paid in milestones

- Stage 2
Proposal
A written proposal covering scope, timeline, fixed cost and anything excluded.
- Stage 3
Requirements
Content, structure and design agreed and written down before the build starts.
- Stage 4
Build
Built in milestones, with a working version for you to review at each one.
- Stage 5
Launch
Testing, go-live, handover notes and support after launch.
Payment: a deposit to start, a payment at an agreed midpoint, the balance on launch.
05 / Standards
What every job comes with
Vanguard is one developer with four years of professional full-stack experience. A five-page site for a plumber gets the same engineering as a client portal.
No surprise invoices
Assumptions and exclusions are in the quote, in writing, before work starts.
Built to standards
WCAG 2.2 AA, UK GDPR and PECR, and Core Web Vitals targets on every build.
Maintainable by anyone
TypeScript, tests and CI, so another developer could pick it up without a rewrite.
Security practices
Dependencies kept patched, automated scanning in the build pipeline, HTTPS with certificates that renew automatically, and customer data stored only where it is needed.
Open communication
Email, phone, Slack or Teams, whichever suits you, with a written update at every milestone and early warning if a deadline or budget looks at risk.
Where are you based, and does it matter?
The studio is in South Wales and works with businesses across the UK. Everything from the first enquiry to sign-off can be handled by email, with phone calls whenever you prefer, so where you are makes no difference to the price or the timeline.
How much does a website cost?
Starter websites begin at £100 for up to five pages with a working contact form. Sites with booking or payments start at £400. Online shops and bespoke software are quoted individually because the scope varies too much to price fairly in a range.
How long does it take to build a website?
Most small business sites launch 2 to 6 weeks after first contact. The build itself is usually 1 to 2 weeks once your content is ready; the rest is discovery, the proposal and your review time.
Who will I be dealing with?
Me. Vanguard is a one-person studio, so the person who replies to your first message is the person who writes the code, runs the launch and answers your emails afterwards.
Do I own the website when it is finished?
Yes. The domain is registered in your name, the hosting account is yours, and so is the source code. If you move to another developer later, everything goes with you.
Tell me what you need.
A few lines is enough to start. Every enquiry gets a written reply within 24 hours, and there is no obligation to go ahead.
